III. NEW MEMBERS -- Marine Carroll N. Harris, Major, USMCR petitioned for membership in the Detachment. On a motion duly made, properly seconded, and unanimously carried he is accepted as a member of the Albert E. Shockey Detachment, Marine Corps League.
IV. MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING RESOLVED; that the minutes of the April 26, 2007 meeting are approved without changes.

Veterans Council Marine Hayes reminded us of the Howard County Veterans Council Auto Show on July 28th, at Eric Chevrolet.
Detachment Activities
MCL Bike Run and Hog Roast Marine Crousore reviewed the
preparation for the June 2nd 2007, Bike Run and Hog Roast. It seems
we are good to go.
Military Rites Marine Hayes reports military rites ceremonies for 76 departed veterans this year to date.
All Service Retiree Affairs Office This office is up and running at Grissom. Marines Chiavola and Hayes are contacts for this resource.
VII. UNFINISHED OR NEW BUSINESS
On
a motion duly made, properly
seconded, and unanimously carried; RESOLVED;
that a trailer be purchased (at a not-to-exceed amount) for storage and
transport of the Detachments equipment.
On a motion duly made, properly seconded, and unanimously approved; RESOLVED; that Ray Thompson is authorized to purchase a security safe for the safekeeping of the Detachments documents and records. Marine Jim Cowan has volunteered to provide a safe at no cost, pending Ray Thompsons approval.
Marine Gaunt conveyed a message of appreciation from the Goodfellows organization for the assistance our members provided during the 2006 holiday season.
VIII FOR THE GOOD OF THE LEAGUE Marine Handy announced:
a. Relay for Life is scheduled for June 15th 2007.
b. The Detachment members have received several compliments for the fine Memorial Day Color Guard performance at the Veterans Memorial.
c. MCL State Department Convention on June 8 10 in Jasper, IN. Those who wish to attend should contact Commandant Handy.

d. Marine Hayes reminded members of the upcoming retirement of Bernice from the VFW Military Rites Unit on the occasion of her 94th birthday. Members of the Marine Corps League are welcome to join the celebration beginning at 4:00 p.m., on June 16th.
